Ok, If you are still with me in regards to Metabolic Stability, then I am excited you want to know more. Maybe you are interested in prevention, wellness. Maybe you are starting to experience some blood sugar issues, some symptoms. Maybe you have a diagnosis of diabetes or some other metabolic issue like cancer.

When it comes to metabolic stability, these 2 things should be in balance.  Microbiome and Insulin Resistance

Gut Microbiome and Insulin Resistance - Fasting

Microbiome

Bacteria in your gut…you have good bacteria and bad bacteria.  If you have been on antibiotics or birth control, have eaten a Standard American Diet high in refined sugars, processed foods, inflammatory fats, or experience high levels of stress you have most likely destroyed your microbiome.  The bad bacteria thrives, making it more difficult to bring your blood sugar down and control it.  One of the key things that regulate your blood sugars are the microbes in your gut.

Insulin Resistance

Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, fat, and liver don’t respond well to insulin or the foods we eat. Over time, your blood sugar levels go up.

Insulin resistance syndrome includes a group of problems like obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes. It is also called metabolic syndrome.

How do you know if you are insulin resistant?  You don’t have to have a diabetes diagnosis to be insulin resistant.  If you are struggling to lose weight, if you are pre-diabetic, if you have fatty liver disease, or cardiovascular disease you are most likely insulin resistant.

Go look at your blood work.  If your HBA1C is above 5 and your fasting blood sugar in the morning is above 100 - you are most likely insulin resistant.

OK, after thinking about these things you think you might have bad bacteria/bad microbiome and insulin resistance.

How do you fix it?

Microbiome

Dr. Mindy Pelz gives us some suggestions. Dr. Pelz suggests the 3 P’s. Prebiotics, probiotics and polyphenols. But don’t forget NO SUGAR, 36 hours of fasting, and good quality sleep to fix it. Stress is also a big issue when it comes to microbiome, so make sure you are managing your stress. Try CBD from Peak Performance Hemp to create a sense of calm is a busy world.

Insulin Resistance -

Fixing insulin resistance takes a bit longer than 36 hours of fasting. Plan to dial in your nutrition and lifestyle habits for 30 days to really see an improvement. Keep fasting, and keep doing longer fasting.

Check out this Youtube video from Dr. Mindy Pelz on how to fix insulin resistance.
