Release to Better Sleep

If you have ever had troubles with sleep, then you know how crummy it can make you feel if you don’t get a good night sleep.  Sleep and recovery is one of the pillars of health that Carbon Elevation focuses on. Getting enough sleep, as well as good quality sleep affects so much of our health from our hormones, to inflammation, to energy levels.

For some, falling asleep can tough.  For others, it is about staying asleep all night. The stress of our day has us tense and unable to turn our minds off.

So how do you let go of all that mental and physical tension to get a restful night sleep?

1. Turn off the electronics.

I have said it before and I will say it again.  First step to a good night sleep is to turn off those elections, especially get off of social media.

2. Open up you chest.

If you are anything like me, you might find yourself rounding yours shoulders due to positions that we find ourselves in most of the day (driving, working at a computer, playing on the phone).  Doing a chest opening exercise before bed can help to release stress and tension.

- How to open your chest - Use a foam roller, a rolled-up towel or pool noodle. Lay your back over it, lengthwise over your spine with arms extended to the side , head resting comfortably. Allow you body to relax down over the foam roller, or whatever you are using. This opens the chest, releasing tightness in the shoulders and upper back as well.

3.  Add meditation.

Meditation can mean different things to different people.  I am not someone who can sit on the floor with my eyes closed, completely clear my head and chant.  I do however find the Headspace app to be a great tool to bring awareness to my body, slow my mind enough to relax.  Usually only 3-5 minutes in the evening is enough to quiet my mind to easily fall asleep.

4.  Take a Full Spectrum Hemp Supplement.

After doing some research, I am still unsure exactly how CBD and Hemp has helped support healthy sleep.  But here is what I do know - For women, sleep issues are complicated. Hormonal shifts, anxiety, and daily stress can all contribute to poor sleep quality.

Peak Performance Hemp Full Spectrum Hemp tinctures, high in CBD has the ability to reduce anxiety, which can be helpful in reducing sleep difficulties and improving sleep quality. The tincture also has key terpenes like Myrcene for muscle relaxation and supporting healthy sleep cycles, Linalool for anti-anxiety and sedation, and Caryophyllene to reduce pain and supports relief of stress, which makes it perfect for releasing thoughts and tension keeping you up at night.

Sleep is an essential aspect of health, and an easy hack to optimal health and quality of life.  May you have restfull nights!
